The 2025 NBTE Annual Meeting was held on 28-29 November and organized by our Young Scientist Organizing Committee: Johanna Husch, Ilze Donderwinkel, Jet Hartman, Minye Jin, Jonelle Meijer and Nasim Shahriari

The meeting started on the first day with a Keynote Lecture by Prof. Joost Sluijter on Cellular and Biomaterial Strategies for Heart Repair. Afterwards we held parallel oral presentation sessions on:

Organoids/spheroids
In-vitro tissue models

Next, we had the exciting rapid-fire and poster session. After which there were again 2 parallel oral presentation sessions on Heart and Vasculature and Small Molecules.

To kick off the evening, we held the NBTE General Assembly Meeting to welcome our new board members Julieta Paez, Ilze Donderwinkel and Imke Jansen, as well as our new chair Gosia Wlodarczyk-Biegun, who will replace Jeroen Leijten. Prof. Lukan Kapitein then gave the Evening Lecture on Using Light to Dissec and Direct Cellular Organization and Dynamics.

For Day 2, we began with Emerging Faculty Lecture by Dr. Joshua Flack on Cell and tissue engineering for cultivated meat applications.

Next, we had parallel sessions on the following interesting topics:

Organ-on-Chip
Manufacturing
Nanoparticles
Hydrogels

During the lunch there was an interesting meet the mentor and sponsor, and after lunch we continued with an Emerging Faculty Lecture by dr. Jasmijn Korpershoek on Cartilage cell therapy and osteochondral allograft transplantation between bench and bedside. After the second poster session in the afternoon, there was a great career workshop by dr. Stephan van Duin (The Online Scientist) on Create impact with science communication. The meeting ended with the awards ceremony.
